Seafood straight off the trawlers, and blackboard specials decided fresh each day after the catch comes in.
A cosy, colourful little café-bistro tucked just off the quay on Market Street — seafood-led, fiercely fresh, with blackboard specials decided each day after the catch comes in.
Jack Sprats is a little café-bistro in the fishing village of Appledore — bright coral-orange and sea-jade on the outside, warm and quirky-cosy within, with a log fire, framed fish prints and a sunny courtyard out the back.
What sets us apart is simple. We buy our seafood straight off the trawlers, so what's good today decides what's cooked today. The menu changes constantly with the catch — there's no week-old fish sitting in a freezer here.
Each morning, once the fish delivery lands, we chalk up the day's specials. A short, considered list — moules, the famous fish chowder, whatever the boats brought in. The board changes daily, so there's always a reason to come back.
